Terms and Conditions:

At Amaya Centro Histórico, we are committed to offering a welcoming and safe space for all our guests, promoting an environment of mutual respect and harmonious coexistence. These policies are designed to ensure a pleasant and hassle-free stay for everyone.

By accepting your reservation, you automatically confirm that you have read and accepted all these conditions.

COEXISTENCE POLICIES

Zero Tolerance to Harassment Policy

Amaya Centro Historico maintains a zero tolerance policy towards any form of harassment, directed at both guests and staff.

Any act of verbal, physical, sexual, psychological or digital harassment that causes discomfort, intimidation or harm to others within our facilities is prohibited.

In the event of a complaint of harassment, management will take immediate action, which may include expulsion of the offender without refund and, if necessary, notification of the appropriate authorities.

All guests and staff members of Amaya Centro Historico must respect each other.

The current laws of Guatemala must be respected at all times.

It is strictly forbidden to record or take photographs of other guests or hostel staff without their consent.

Live transmissions are not permitted within the facilities without prior authorization.

Sharing or disseminating images, audio or video of other guests or staff without their consent is prohibited.

Keep common areas clean and tidy.

Avoid excessive noise that may disturb other guests, especially between 10:00 PM and 7:00 AM.

It is not allowed to reserve beds, tables or common spaces without justification.

Amaya Centro Historico has a closed circuit security camera system for everyone's protection.

Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. It is recommended to use the lockers available.

The administration is not responsible for lost or stolen objects inside the facilities.

Identification and Registration.

All guests must present an official ID or valid passport.

The identification must be issued by the guest's country of origin.

Minors must prove that the accompanying persons are their parents or legal guardians.

If this information is not provided, the competent authorities will be notified in accordance with the Law against Trafficking in Persons in force in Guatemala.

Consequences of Non-Compliance.

Any violation of these rules will be considered a serious and irrevocable fault.

Amaya Centro Histórico shall have the power to cancel the lodging contract unilaterally without the right to reimbursement or compensation.

Depending on the seriousness of the breach, the corresponding authorities may be notified.

 Smoking: Smoking is not permitted inside the rooms. Smoking is permitted only on the terrace of the building in designated smoking areas. Guests are kindly requested not to dispose of cigarette butts outside the receptacles provided for this purpose.

Alcohol consumption: Alcohol consumption is permitted in the common areas of the building, such as the hostel's common room and terrace. If alcohol or any beverage is spilled in the kitchen, the necessary tools are available to clean up. Consumption must be in moderation and respectful of other guests. The time limit for alcohol consumption is 22:30 hours. Guests who are drunk or disturbing others will be removed from the property to ensure harmony and peace among individuals.

 

Use of dishes: If you use dishes from the common areas, be sure to leave them clean after use. Necessary cleaning supplies are available for your convenience.
Damage to furnishings: Any damage caused to the furnishings or facilities of the hostel will be charged to the responsible guest, based on market prices for items of the same characteristics.
Access to rooms: Access to rooms is not permitted to visitors not registered at the front desk. Short visits in common areas must be notified to management and are subject to approval.

Instruments and Noise: Playing musical instruments, radios or televisions at high volume, as well as loud parties are prohibited. Quiet hours are from 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM, during which guests are expected to keep noise to a minimum to ensure everyone's rest. Quiet hours also apply to the common areas of the hostel, without exception. Exceptions for special events must be authorized by the administration.

Amaya Centro Histórico, as a private institution, reserves the right of admission.

 

TYPES OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED.

Cards: Debit or Credit (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). Cash USD or GTQ. Digital payments: Google Pay or Apple Pay.

All payments made in dollars will be equivalent to 1 USD = 8GTQ.

Refund Policy:

The general process for refunds is 7 business days. In case of delays, please follow up with your financial institution, as each has different policies.

Advance Payments:

We require a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total cost of the stay to confirm the reservation. The remaining balance is due upon check in.

Last Minute Reservations:

Reservations made within 48 hours prior to check-in must be paid in full at the time of booking.

Extensions of Stay:

Stay extensions must be paid prior to the start of your stay. Late payments may be subject to additional charges.

On-Site Payment Policy:

Payments at check-in are subject to presentation of valid official identification and a credit/debit card on file.

 

Check-in and Check-out:
Check-in hours: 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
Check-out hours: Until 11:00 AM.
Extended check-out times may incur additional charges equivalent to $10.00 for an additional 1:30 hours.
Arrivals outside standard check-in times must be notified well in advance for our reservations team to evaluate whether it is feasible to accept the reservation. Late check-in is subject to availability and must be pre-arranged to allow remote access to the building or host assistance.
For early check-in (before 3:00 PM), this service is subject to availability and inventory. As a unique courtesy of the property, we may allow guests' luggage to be stored at the front desk between the hours of 09:30 AM and 3:00 PM.
We ask all guests to provide an approximate time of arrival to ensure effective communication with the hostel staff.

Arrivals outside standard check-in times must be notified well in advance for our reservations team to assess whether it is feasible to accept the reservation. Late check-in is subject to availability and must be pre-arranged to allow remote access to the building or assistance from the host.

 

Security:

The building has 24-hour security provided by the National Civil Police.

Amaya Centro Histórico has a closed circuit security camera system with facial recognition, which allows the identification of the guests who are staying. This reinforces our commitment to everyone's safety.

Guests are responsible for their personal belongings. If you have valuables (jewelry, money, personal computers, passports, tickets, etc.), please use our security locker service. Each bottom bunk has a locker assigned with the same bed number.

Amaya Centro Historico is not responsible for personal losses caused in the rooms. Report any loss immediately to the administration.

 

Pet Policy: We accept pets with prior notice from the guest. Pets allowed are medium sized dogs with a maximum weight of 25 kg. Any deposition or mischief made by the pet inside the building will incur a cost, according to the damage policy mentioned above. Cost per pet $15.00

Emergencies: In case of emergencies such as fires or earthquakes, follow staff instructions and use the emergency exits marked in the building. We also have an emergency service with transportation to a hospital, complementary to the reservation, if necessary.

 

Communication of Policies: These policies will be available directly on our web site and at the time of check in you automatically accept these rules.

Immediate Removal Clause
Failure to comply with any of the policies described herein will result in unilateral cancellation of the contract without refund, as well as immediate removal of the guest from the building. In case of dispute or disagreement over an alleged policy violation, please report to the front desk to appeal the decision. Our manager will mediate for dispute resolution, which will be responded to in a timely manner, depending on the needs of the stay.

Reservation Policy by Booking Channels

Reservations made through Booking, Airbnb, Expedia and their affiliates must include an approximate time of arrival. In case of no communication with the establishment, Amaya Centro Histórico reserves the right to cancel the reservation unilaterally.

Alterations and Cancellations
Alterations and cancellations of hotel rooms must be made in writing or by e-mail to amayahostelguatemala@gmail.com. Requests to change or modify the reservation will be attended within the next hour after being made, to verify space and inventory available at the hostel.”

Cancellation Policy.

Flexible Policy:
Refunds available up to 3 hours prior to check-in time. After this period, no refunds will be made.
Cancellations within 24 hours prior to check-in will be charged 50% of the total amount of the reservation.
In cases of force majeure (natural disasters, documented medical emergencies, flight cancellations), policies will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis for greater flexibility.

Non-Refundable Policy:
Guest will not be eligible for a refund at any time.

Incomplete Stays:
In the event that the full service of the stay is not utilized, a partial refund of the full reservation will not be possible. The reserved space will remain closed until the end of the confirmed reservation period.

Last Minute Reservations:
Reservations made within 48 hours prior to check-in must be paid in full at the time of booking and will be non-refundable.

No Show:
If the guest does not show up at the established check-in time, the equivalent of one night's lodging will be charged according to the category of the room reserved.

Refunds:
The general process for refunds is 7 business days. In case of delays, please follow up with your financial institution, as each has different policies.

Future Credits:
In lieu of monetary refunds, the guest may opt for a credit towards a future reservation, subject to availability and specific conditions of the hostel.
